They were sued by two interns who interned for W Magazine and The New Yorker for the summer who claimed to have been paid below minimum wage during their time at the corporation.
Unfortunately, this has not been the first corporation in the magazine industry to be hit with issues. A former Harper’s Bazaar intern sued Hearst Magazines last year for not being paid.
The opportunity to work for these companies and get a foot in the door before actually applying to be a full-time paid employee is now lost. This could be good, as it could level the playing field a bit, but it could also make it harder to get these journalist and editorial positions without previous work experience in the field.
What are your thoughts on Condé Nast getting rid of their intern program?
Last night it snowed. Tomorrow is only a high of 45 degrees Farenheight as of now, most of the day being in the high 30s/low 40s. Tomorrow calls for a little sweater weather. Below is a similar outfit to the one I will be sporting tomorrow.
My snood is from ASOS last season and the sweater I thrifted. But here are some similar options.
Okay, I have no valid excuse for the time between this post and my last besides the fact that I have had midterms and have been quite sick for two weeks now. Excuses aside, I should have been posting. So, here it goes again.
A few weeks ago I got the new fall Anthro catalogue. After drooling over its pages, I went back through and came up with a few favourite pieces from the collection.
I am in love with this sweater. It also comes in beige and white, but I am forever in love with a good black and white pairing.
I hope to have another post up within the next couple of days since I do not have that many classes this week.
Until next time, enjoy life and stay warm if you live in the Midwest. xx
Today has been a day of browsing. I always scan through magazines before I actually reed the content. I quickly scan over every page before snuggling up with a cup of Yorkshire tea, wrapped in a blanket, as I take the afternoon to immerse myself in a copy of Vogue.
I spent a good hour scanning through the October issues of Vogue and Nylon.* I also took a good portion of time to go through a few blogs I follow and scan their newest posts. (My Bloglovin’ dashboard is very full right now and that needs to be fixed . . . I just have to find the time).
Here are a few of my favourite finds:
This skirt is from the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection at Target this fall.
*The only reason I snagged a copy of Nylon was because Alexa Chung was on the cover. Overall: good choice.
Most days when I wake up, my thoughts go as follows:
Is it really time to get up?
Did I have any homework due today?
I wonder if my hair is going to cooperate with me today . . .
What should I wear today?
Wait . . . what is the weather like?
Do I have to dress up for anything?
Wait . . . who am I kidding . . . I dress up even if I don’t have to.
I don’t want to get out of bed . . . it’s cold out there . . .
Don’t make me leave the warmth of my blankets!
Once I finally get up, I stumble over to my closet. Stare at it blankly then shuffle over to my dresser. Eventually I find something to put on my body. Being tired and indecisive does not make getting dressed in the morning an easy task, but it usually turns out all right.
Pants: Ann Taylor, Jacket: Topshop (Similar here), Watch: Fossil
I was walking to class the other morning when I ran into another friend of mine who was in the same class. She was wearing a dress and I was wearing tapered trousers and heels. We had presented a case study the week before, but we were still “dressed up.”
The day before, I was wearing this outfit, which included a skirt and heels. Some weeks, I want to feel like I’m out of university and in the working world . . . just a few more months.
Happy Friday! Yesterday I found out my university has blocked Vogue.co.uk, so I am currently trying to figure out the next best way to get my pictures from various shows from LFW, Milan, and then Paris. (Any suggestions would be much appreciated, or I may be even more behind on posting and I may be making quite a few trips to Starbucks within the next couple of weeks.
Here are just a few of my favourite things currently. I can’t get away from black and grey . . . still. I’m addicted to neutrals and I have no shame.
Anyone have any weekend plans? Who is loving Milan Fashion Week?
